I am spending less time for writing code. Spending 3 days for writing code will done in 30 minutes. People will say jobs won't be affected. But, 2 persons job can be done by AI and overlooked by a single senior. If people really have talent, they can survive anywhere. AI and Automation can't be stopped because they take away jobs. We need to learn to live with it. All big cities will be affected. This is the price we need to pay to being called the IT capital. Regarding PGs, the owners will convert it to homes and rent out. No need to worry for them as they will already have too much. From now on, people will diversify their education also. We are seeing so many engineers. Instead they should start learning what they really love. People were telling the same when banks and other offices were computerized. But that didn't stop anything. Efficiency increased. Hope similar will happen here.

There will be a huge correction in the salary side for developers and also less development work. 

There still needs to be more AI wrappers to be developed before entire companies are replaced. Every company has an AI use case. 

We are into health care compliance and we are trying to replace the health care SMEs , I still see difficulty in AI replacing the SMEs immediately.  It will take another 5 years for a good solution to replace their activities. .
I think among software development things are moving faster , and even most of software developer friends are also of the opinion we will be replaced in next 5 years. 

I feel we would need to go back to farming as an agrarian society to survive. India still has this advantage we are blessed with good soil.

Rent isn’t high because of the job market.. it’s high because of people’s choices &amp; behavior in the rental market. Many bachelors &amp; roommates share housing costs, which allows them to afford higher rents without feeling the financial strain individually. This creates a situation where landlords can charge more.. knowing that tenants can split the expense among multiple people.

As a result the overall rental market gets skewed, pushing prices up even for those who prefer to live alone. Instead of negotiating lower rents or resisting overpriced listings.. people accept these inflated prices because when divided among multiple roommates.. the burden seems manageable. In turn landlords continue raising rents knowing there will always be tenants willing to pay.

Ultimately, only thing that will lower the rent is the way people interact with the market! Bachelors paying high price will continue hurt families living in the city

New models are quickly running out of data to train. Were barely have new data for bigger models.

Someone needs to read the code it writes and maintain it. AI sucks even with good prompts to do this.

AI is stupid. No reasoning skills especially with code larger than the context size and even when it fits it fails to make small changes to code without breaking it.

AI might increase productivity but humans are required at every step.

Developer’s count will be reduced. But the productivity has increased multiple folds. 

Job roles are changing and mostly contractors are being recruited. This could be easy for layoffs in any economic imbalance.

A team of 8 developers is being reduced to 3-4 with AI. 

But on a better side, I’m seeing more number of products are in the pipeline. I have a feeling that demand for devs having experience with AI will increase in near future given there is no major recession worldwide due to economic slowdown.

Research for jobs that are less affected by GenAI and keep upskilling. Constantly attend interviews just for being relevant.

We have fought and survived many ups and downs. Not sure about the freshers, but we senior folks will survive this! All the best to all.

For the past month, I’ve been using **Cursor AI** (**Business**) to code, and as an architect, I no longer need to rely on developers for PoCs. What used to take **days or weeks**, I now complete in **an hour or two**. And for production coding? I’m seeing at least a **30x productivity boost**—not 30%, but **30 times faster**. Features that used to take **30 working days now take just one.**

I’m not exaggerating. This is real. And it honestly **scares me.**

I use **ChatGPT daily** to brainstorm, choose technologies, debate solutions, review design documents, and create API specs. Our developers rely on Cursor AI to generate **70% of their code, including unit and integration tests.** When we encounter production bugs, **Cursor’s chat finds and fixes them in under two minutes**—problems that would typically take **hours or even months** depending on complexity.

Even debugging across multiple teams is effortless now—I just open the entire codebase in Cursor and ask questions, and it gives me everything I need. I no longer need to depend on other teams' inputs as long as I have access to their code.

I disagree. Developer jobs in the US will be the most affected. With AI, it’s easier to offshore development to places like Bangalore than pay Bay Area salaries. There are going to be mass layoffs in the US. And a lot of MNCs opening centres and hiring in India. Cheaper labor+AI is going to be a future combination. China and US will still innovate in AI. And India will be major beneficiary of AI to provide software services.

Of course BPOs are under threat. BPOs will move from India, Philippines back to the US - fully AI enabled.

Inefficiency will be identified for sure when automation with AI comes in and some job losses will be inevitable but the fear of mass layoffs is click-baity at best.
